I hope I remember these things during my year of being PTA President!

50th Birthday Party
One of my Jennifer Massey Designs co-workers, Treasa, was turning 50 and we threw a luau/Fiesta birthday party for her at Chuy's. From L to R...back, Jennifer, Vera (Treasa's granddaughter), me, Tonya, Charisse. Front: Stephanie, Eva, Treasa, Chelsea (Treasa's daughter).
On Treasa'a actual birthday, she'll be on a cruise with some of her oldest girlfriends! How fun!

Go SPURS Go!
First Communion weekend was also a big SPURS weekend for us. We went to Friday night's game vs. the Lakers, Sunday night's game vs. Cleveland with the kids; and Monday night's game against the Trailblazers! For Sunday's game, we brought along Oliver K. Woodman, sort of a Flat Stanley character sent from Ethan's friend in VA to explore San Antonio.
On Monday night, we had terrific charter seats 12 rows off the floor. It was fun to sit so close! We're spoiled now!
FIESTA Girls Lunch 2012
Each year, a group of preschool moms and other friends head downtown for a Fiesta lunch at La Margarita in Market Square. We usually head down early and do some shopping and visit Mi Tierra's fabulous Mexican bakery. Mi Tierra is always decorated to the hilt but during Fiesta time, it's extra colorful! Pinata explosion!
Probably a day's worth of calories right there! Good friends and good times!

Sarah's First Communion
Sarah received her First Communion this year from Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Her lovely dress and shoes were found by our good friend, Miss Robyn, who has two boys and probably relished the opportunity to shop for a little girl's dress!
Receiving a First Communion bracelet from Daddy.
Ethan, Sarah, Lucas and Jacob
No photographs were allowed during the ceremony so we snapped one on the alter afterwards. The homily was given by Deacon Guy. I'm not sure he had the audience in mind when he spoke about how Edward and Bella from the movie Twilight weren't real; that soft porn commercials on TV didn't represent what was real (yup, he said 'soft porn' TWICE!); but that Jesus was real. I understand his message, but I am thankful that it went over the heads of my kids, none of whom have read or seen Twilight. And I certainly didn't want to explain what soft porn was to any of them! Other than that, it was a lovely service! Ha!
Out to dinner afterwards at a new restaurant in town...54th St. Grill. Yum.

Ethan's Birthday Party
This year, Ethan gave up LEGOs for Lent. I'm not sure he realized the significance of his sacrifice until he decided he wanted a LEGO birthday party and his birthday fell during Lent! So he waited patiently, and we had his birthday party at a gymnastics place on the first Saturday after Easter.
LEGO cookies courtesy of Dandie Bakes, San Antonio.
The kids remembered (from a party about two years ago!!) that when they jump in the foam pit, the bits of foam and dust get into their eyes. My crazy kids brought goggles. Totally serious. And then promptly chucked them because it was too hot and sweaty to wear them.
Flying Ethan!
Kids screaming Happy Birthday louder and louder!
Enjoying some LEGO colored cupcakes, jello jigglers, crackers, grapes and juice.
And this is little Leora. A party guest who broke her leg just below her knee while jumping on the trampoline! Major hostess guilt! She wasn't doing anything wrong...just jumping! She left about 15 minutes into the party, but we didn't find out it was broken until later that night. She missed almost a week of school because they couldn't cast her leg until the swelling went down. Hope it comes off in six weeks! : (

KDO Fiesta!
It's FIESTA time in San Antonio and that means it's party time at preschool. Lucas' school had a class parade, a bike rodeo (or scooter as the case may be) and a big carnival with games, tractor rides and bounce houses. It was a gorgeous day and we'll be sad not to participate next year when he goes to Kindergarten. : (
The director said she purposely avoided me all day because she would tear up thinking about it. Everything now is "the last ...". So we both cried at the end of the day instead!

Madame President
Caller: "Hello, Madame President!"
Me: "There's no one here by that name."
Caller: "Well, there will be in a couple hours!"
Me: "Maybe someone will come out of the woodwork and run against me?"
Caller: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!"
And that is how I became President of the PTA for the 2012-2013 school year. I go between having these totally Zen moments - "Let's DO THIS THING!" - and moments of sheer panic - "WTH did I get myself into?" I know I'm the right person for the job. I just hope my other jobs - including those on the home front - don't suffer any because of it.

Happy Birthday Ethan!
Hard to believe we've been in Texas long enough that one of our babies that was born here turned seven! We went to BJ's for a Pizookie, but his birthday party won't be until April 14th.
