Ethan and the Bee

Ethan won his class spelling bee and got to represent his class in the school spelling bee. He was in the front row, so it was great for pics! He got his practice word: FAKE and aced it.

Then during the first round, he got his real word: PLANET. He spelled it: P - L - A - N - T ... E. Wrong. According to spelling bee rules, once you say a letter out loud, you can't take it back. As soon as he said the "T", he knew he forgot the "E", but since he couldn't go back, he added it on to the end. Poor guy. He was the first one out.

Still a handsome good sport though.

Lucas' Face Plant

You know when you hear a thump in the night, then crying, then footsteps running down the stairs? Yeah. Except this time, the runner was not the crier. The runner was Ethan, reporting that "Lucas is bleeding all over the place!"

Reason # 493 to have this hip surgery: I can't go flying up the stairs to help Lucas. I have to wait until Mark goes up, assesses the situation, cleans him up, and brings him down to me. It feels like an eternity! Two eternities!

While Mark goes back up stairs to clean up blood, I snuggle with my baby. Turns out, Lucas rolled out of bed on to the corner of his night stand. Busted a hole right through his lip! Luckily he didn't knock out any teeth. It's a facial wound though, and they bleed like crazy.

Reason # 494 to have this hip surgery: I can't drive him to the ER. Mark has to do it. At 4:00 am.

Can't go back to sleep. Waiting for updates.

Surprisingly, no stitches. Just glue. Follow up with dentist but teeth were intact! Relief!

Aviation Camp Flight

Jacob participated in an Aviation Camp this summer. One of the perks was a flight in a WWII C47, however, the cross winds were too strong the day he had camp so they gave us a voucher for a later flight. The bonus was that a parent could ride along on the make up flight. So Mark and Jacob toured Ft. Worth from the air.

Halloween

Halloween was an afterthought this year, as my right hip replacement surgery was October 27th. The weekend before, we hit some Trunk or Treat activities, but on the actual day - I was trying to stay awake after taking my meds.

Sarah was a witch. Lucas was a baseball player. Jacob had another Minecraft head - Enderman this time. Lucas was indecisive: Mario and Superman!

Hippy Chick: Bionic Phase Two

Soooo much easier the second time around. Same doctor, same (Ebola free) hospital, same plan. Less stress, less anxiety, less worry.

My friend, Cynnamon, came to help out for two weeks. She didn't really get Ebola, but you'd think by the news coverage at the time that she was a goner because she went through the airport.

Even the meds were better this time around - really just the addition of anti-nausea stuff! Thankful to have it over with and looking forward to my new pain-free life!
